Erwin had noticed the altercation and tried to make his way over, sliding the rifle off of his back with a frown. Whoever he was, threatening an unarmed woman with a pistol... That didn't sit well with him (although he remembered a village in the Russia - no time to think about that now). Fritz helmet clamped firmly on his head and rifle held in one hand, he came up alongside Inara, bringing the bolt-action up and leveling it with a frown, accent German despite the translation, "I suggest you do do what the woman says."

Women with guns - that was a bit strange to him, but the Russians had used them, so it wasn't unheard of.
