Aeneas was underneath the portal, driven far back from the deep trenches where he was most comfortable. While the others were cutting clean through the bulk of the robotic army, those around the fringes were starting to pile up pretty fast.
The alien was doing his best with his limited abilities to hold them off. Thankfully the smaller enemies were the ones that had managed to avoid the mass attacks, making it easier for Aeneas to pick them off with little effort. A tail swipe here, a foreleg smash there, some head dismemberment spattered from time to time to make things interesting…
It was a good thing that these weren’t biological enemies. Aeneas wasn’t sure he’d be able to handle attacking something…eh…meaty.
Of course there were the usual distractions. A lull in the flow of enemies took Aeneas’s attention to a flying, glowing…car. Yes, it was one of the cars, and it looked familiar—who exactly was in the driver’s seat?
The alien’s sharp eyes cut through the blizzard as it exploded, and he saw the delicate humanoid form of Matt Olsen tumble into a line of laser-shooting polar bears.
Moments later, having completely abandoned his post, Aeneas exploded from underneath the advancing force and latched himself onto one of their necks. As the others recovered from the ice upsurge, the creature batted them away with his fuisti and hoped for the best.
“The portal!” Aeneas screeched to him as the polar bear he was attached to swung its head wildly, “Go protect the portal!”

Then, as an afterthought:
“Please go protect the portal!”
