Meeting at the Statuary [closed] (also includes the mistletoe event! :D )

All the while Hal was traversing the ship, the place that came closest to home for him was the Statuary. At least, a part of it did. He needed a clear head. He needed someone (someone he knew from back home) to tell him that he wasn't crazy.

Thankfully, he had already contacted Wonder Woman. He would contact Ollie and Guy and Kyle first, but the ring couldn't contact them or find them for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with their location... In fact, the ring hadn't been able to do some of the things it was used to doing, and Hal knew that since he started exploring this place. He would deal with that later. But for now, he waited for the amazon princess.

Diana hadn't taken much to exploration but what she had found was rather odd in the city, particularly the public bathrooms which seemed to serve no practical person. Humans were strange but she really couldn't see any of them using such a grotesque location (even if it did have perpetually fresh toilet paper).

But that place was for another musing. The statuary was an interesting place. The memorial statues for Clark and Conner had caught her attention last time she was there. Otherwise, the place reminded her of the courtyards in Themyscira, with their heroic statues of valiant Amazon warriors.

Hal was pretty easy to spot against the scenery. She hadn't seen him since the League came to her rescue when Circe stole her power. That wasn't too long ago, but here, with the time differentials, it could've been a while or hadn't happened for him at all. "Hello, Hal," she greeted him. She must've looked quite a sight, donning the plant suit, with her metal gauntlets, tiara, and lasso (somehow stuck within the plant suit).

Right to the point. "Our situation seems shaky at best," she replied. Even Dick had little information to offer, which made her worry about their chances of surviving. Just a bit. She preferred to keep a hopeful outlook on most situations, but the lack of knowledge and information about something so seemingly large-scale just bothered her.

"But what I can confirm is that not everyone, despite being from the same world, is from the same time." She had mentioned this before, when she spoke with Hal on the device. "Cassie is at least one year behind me and Dick is from my past as well." It was still really strange to think of that. Did they know what she had done because of Max Lord or even why? There was no time to pine over that. There was something more important at hand. "I'm pretty sure we're not from the same time either."

"Also, I'm not entirely positive our universe is gone either, though many are convinced that it is." The thought of it just bothered her. A universe-destroying being. "Whichever the case, we're stuck here for now, and I'm planning to make the best of the situation to find a way home." A warrior's greatest strength was taking the situation and turning it around into her advantage. That's exactly what she planned on doing. "I don't think throwing yourself out an airlock will really help either of us right now."

Now she hadn't really heard that. Witnessing the universe shrivelling was a pretty big event. But why would their memories be taken away? Strategically keeping those memories around would fuel the ship's inhabitants to fight against these Ohm more passionately.

Diana tapped her chin thoughtfully. "There was that odd flash of light before I found myself here." It was pretty strange that she couldn't remember what happened then.

"I don't blame you," Diana added. "It is rather disconcerting, however there isn't a need to be reckless. If we want to get home, we need to all work together to find the answer."

She blinked, her attention drawn to the strange plant. It was a strange thing, that mistletoe, a symbol of affection in a society that seemed incredibly squeemish about hugging in public. The Amazons were a friendly group and hugging was pretty common for celebrations and ordinary occurances as well. Yet the human society didn't seem to share the same tradition. In fact, it was often discouraged. Then again, there was this mistletoe which seemed to be an exception.

Question was, "What's it doing here? Where'd it come from?" She hadn't noticed any on her way in.

"Please express affection for your fellow crewmate to free them."

Diana looked up sharply. "Did you hear that, Hal?"

"This is of the utmost importance, and part of ongoing Crew Coherency and Cooperation Studies."

Well certainly she wasn't going crazy at this point. "Studies? What's going on?"

"Please do not attempt to leave the vicinity until you have participated."

That really didn't answer her question. She looked around, searching for the voice. Gracefully and effortlessly she lifted herself into the air only to smack into some sort of invisible ceiling.

"Participation is required. Why wouldn't you want to participate?"

"Well that gives us an option, doesn't it?" Diana frowned, floating gently down to the ground, rubbing her head gingerly.

"The Transmigration9 AI Complex thanks you for your participation in important research. Unless you don't want to participate, but not participating would make me disappointed. I suppose you just want to disappoint me."

An AI complex? That was something she hadn't come across yet. The ship was purely organic, wasn't it? Now she wasn't entirely sure. Diana looked back at Hal. She had no problem hugging a fellow Leaguer but how would he take it? Humans could be so touchy.

Her definition was probably far different from his. Regardless, she shrugged, then simply walked over to Hal. Without a word, she took him by the shoulders and pulled him into a tight, loving, Amazony embrace. She was careful not to squeeze too hard so he could still breathe.

It was strange hugging a fellow Leaguer but welcomed and nice, purely out of friendship and affection for him as a friend. The gesture was incredibly Amazon, much less human, though she'd seen them do it before. Not often enough, in her mind.

For most people, Diana probably would have resisted the affectionate gesture, but this was Hal. He was a friend. She also knew he wasn't a pig and had manners. Besides, it was in their best interest in order to free themselves (she'd have to have a word with this AI and Stacy about later, if either even listened). Though she couldn't deny it felt good to be close to her friend.

But that was beside the matter. Still close to Hal, she looked up curiously, awaiting the disappearance of the field which held them captive.

Diana took her chance to fly about too, feeling for the force field. "It does seem that was the correct answer," Diana agreed, avoiding the subject of whether or not she was okay with it (she did like feeling close to Hal, of course). A small crisis was averted in the end. "The question is, however, what caused this? I was certain the ship was completely organic." AI. That was Bruce's territory, and as far as she knew, he was here. Somewhere. Most likely brooding in the shadows, as was his tendency.

In a way, she wished to be close to many of the League as she was to the two of them. They were her family now.

"No, I don't believe it does." In a way, the statuary was incredibly serene but at the same time, a bit eerie. It was quiet and alone.

"Hal, how about we get something to eat first?" The slop had to be better with company. And besides, getting out of the statuary and avoiding any other potential mistletoe was easily a good choice.

Diana nodded. "It's hardly pleasant, but it does its job." She really couldn't find any word in any language to describe the food here, besides some rather grotesque words she'd rather not speak aloud. It was, in the end, satisfying and filling but getting it down was the challenge. Unfortunately, her stomach said otherwise. Food was needed. Now.
