Meeting at the Statuary [closed] (also includes the mistletoe event! :D )
All the while Hal was traversing the ship, the place that came closest to home for him was the Statuary. At least, a part of it did. He needed a clear head. He needed someone (someone he knew from back home) to tell him that he wasn't crazy.
Thankfully, he had already contacted Wonder Woman. He would contact Ollie and Guy and Kyle first, but the ring couldn't contact them or find them for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with their location... In fact, the ring hadn't been able to do some of the things it was used to doing, and Hal knew that since he started exploring this place. He would deal with that later. But for now, he waited for the amazon princess.

But that place was for another musing. The statuary was an interesting place. The memorial statues for Clark and Conner had caught her attention last time she was there. Otherwise, the place reminded her of the courtyards in Themyscira, with their heroic statues of valiant Amazon warriors.
Hal was pretty easy to spot against the scenery. She hadn't seen him since the League came to her rescue when Circe stole her power. That wasn't too long ago, but here, with the time differentials, it could've been a while or hadn't happened for him at all. "Hello, Hal," she greeted him. She must've looked quite a sight, donning the plant suit, with her metal gauntlets, tiara, and lasso (somehow stuck within the plant suit).

He then approached her to greet her back. "Evening, Diana. Or whatever time of the day it should be back home," he said, sarcasm lightly noted in his voice. Given their situation, of course, Hal went straight to the point.
"What do you think of our situation, Diana? It seems like everyone wants me to just take everything I'm being told and just live with it."

"But what I can confirm is that not everyone, despite being from the same world, is from the same time." She had mentioned this before, when she spoke with Hal on the device. "Cassie is at least one year behind me and Dick is from my past as well." It was still really strange to think of that. Did they know what she had done because of Max Lord or even why? There was no time to pine over that. There was something more important at hand. "I'm pretty sure we're not from the same time either."
"Also, I'm not entirely positive our universe is gone either, though many are convinced that it is." The thought of it just bothered her. A universe-destroying being. "Whichever the case, we're stuck here for now, and I'm planning to make the best of the situation to find a way home." A warrior's greatest strength was taking the situation and turning it around into her advantage. That's exactly what she planned on doing. "I don't think throwing yourself out an airlock will really help either of us right now."

"Did you also hear that apparently, we did witness our universe being shriveled to bits?" Hal added. "But we don't know about it because this ship took away our memories of it. Honestly, I think that's just a convenient reason for this ship to take us from wherever we were."
Just then did Hal realize that he really was starting to sound like Bruce. "I... can't help but think that way, Diana. Given our situation, do you really blame for how I'm feeling?"
no subject
Diana tapped her chin thoughtfully. "There was that odd flash of light before I found myself here." It was pretty strange that she couldn't remember what happened then.
"I don't blame you," Diana added. "It is rather disconcerting, however there isn't a need to be reckless. If we want to get home, we need to all work together to find the answer."

Not only that, what the Middleman said in the comms was right on target. He couldn't just leave this place. He had a responsibility to uphold, and people are obviously going to need his help.
"Yeah, I know that---" Hal was interrupted when he saw something grow from the statue. Was this... "Mistletoe?" At least, it certainly looked like mistletoe. If it wasn't a mistletoe, it made a fairly convincing mistletoe. "Something's happening."
no subject
Question was, "What's it doing here? Where'd it come from?" She hadn't noticed any on her way in.
no subject
"What the hell...?" He rubbed his forehead and found that he could no longer progress forward. "Diana, I'm trapped. It feels like I'm trapped in a forcefield!" He then tried to feel how far and how wide this forcefield is, making it look like he was miming something.
no subject
Diana looked up sharply. "Did you hear that, Hal?"
"This is of the utmost importance, and part of ongoing Crew Coherency and Cooperation Studies."
Well certainly she wasn't going crazy at this point. "Studies? What's going on?"
"Please do not attempt to leave the vicinity until you have participated."
That really didn't answer her question. She looked around, searching for the voice. Gracefully and effortlessly she lifted herself into the air only to smack into some sort of invisible ceiling.
"Participation is required. Why wouldn't you want to participate?"
"Well that gives us an option, doesn't it?" Diana frowned, floating gently down to the ground, rubbing her head gingerly.
"The Transmigration9 AI Complex thanks you for your participation in important research. Unless you don't want to participate, but not participating would make me disappointed. I suppose you just want to disappoint me."
An AI complex? That was something she hadn't come across yet. The ship was purely organic, wasn't it? Now she wasn't entirely sure. Diana looked back at Hal. She had no problem hugging a fellow Leaguer but how would he take it? Humans could be so touchy.

"I don't like this, Diana," Hal started. "I have to show affection for you in order to get out of this?" Throughout Hal's life, he had always called the shots on who and how to show affection for the ones he cared about. But this... this was just out of line. Though in all honesty, it didn't seem too bad, did it?
"Question is, what do they exactly mean by 'affection'...?"
no subject
It was strange hugging a fellow Leaguer but welcomed and nice, purely out of friendship and affection for him as a friend. The gesture was incredibly Amazon, much less human, though she'd seen them do it before. Not often enough, in her mind.

Raising his hand feeling for where the forcefield is/was/used to be, he found that it was still there. He knocked on it and told her, "The hug didn't work, Diana." Then had a certain feeling about something... "I'm not sure if you know this... but back home, there's a rather odd tradition about being under mistletoes. It says that two people who are under the mistletoe are supposed to kiss. Call me crazy, but maybe that's what we have to do."
So Hal was going to do just that. He would deal with the aftermath later. Placing his ringed hand on the back of Diana's head, he smoothly and softly pressed his lips against hers. He didn't keep it too long in case he made her uncomfortable. Letting go, Hal looked at her and wondered if that worked.

But that was beside the matter. Still close to Hal, she looked up curiously, awaiting the disappearance of the field which held them captive.
no subject
"It looks like it worked. I don't know if you were okay with that, but..." Hal was stuck with words. He was actually thankful that he didn't get punched for it. He was just glad to get out of that.

"It's pretty believable that this ship is organic. Who knows, maybe this ship also has a personality on its own," Hal added, musing on that fact a bit. "I wouldn't be surprised. But whatever caused this... I'm sure we won't find answers here."
no subject
"No, I don't believe it does." In a way, the statuary was incredibly serene but at the same time, a bit eerie. It was quiet and alone.
"Hal, how about we get something to eat first?" The slop had to be better with company. And besides, getting out of the statuary and avoiding any other potential mistletoe was easily a good choice.
no subject
Little did they know, they would find others in the same situation as they had just been in. At least now, Hal felt somewhat better about the whole situation.
