Mal was beginning to feel lost, not really sure where Jo was going. He didn't let on about it, though, pretending to act like he understood exactly what she was saying. "Yeah, sounds like somethin' scientists would do. Ain't had much experience with time rifts or nothing like that, but strange things have happened before, so we kind of have some idea how to handle situations as they come up." Of course, most of the crazy stuff that went on on board Serenity was mostly dissatisfied clients or problems caused by some of the crew, but either way, the crew definitely knew how to roll with the punches.

"Yeah, guess not. Not somethin' I want to think on more than I have to, you know?" He smiled slightly as they finally came to the engine room. "So, this is the engine room, as you can see. It's what keeps Serenity runnin'. And when she don't run no more, that's what my mechanic Kaylee is for." He pointed to one corner of the room, where a hammock was strung up. "That'd be where she sleeps sometimes. She's good at what she does; I wouldn't want no one else looking after my ship."
