 Slobo had been puttering around the ship for an hour, thinking and looking. He quickly found that if you looked hard enough, between W&P and the City itself, you could find anything. In the end, he was standing outside a Courtyard by Marriott hotel about a click outside of "Escherville" with spraypaint and a very large block of stone. At first he had thought about the Vatican, but it was too wrecked from the zombie fight. Plus, this place had an indoor pool. He spraypainted a large message on the wall next to the door, red with black outline.

On the sandwich board tucked near the door, he wrote "12-21? Info and Tryouts inside" and left it out in front. Now, he took his large rock into the lobby and began carving. And waited.

Slobo looked at her, feeling this odd thing. Was that... Oh, wow. That was an emotion. Other than anger or snarkiness. He thought about it, and figured it was pity, given what she had just said.

"See, where I'm from, if people come back from the dead, they do it physically, and usually cream their own statues." He chuckled lightly, trying to lighten the mood. "We ain't got dream versions of dead guys. And as fer the statues... It's a nice thing. Reminds us why we do what we do." He thought about his old team.

"A guy I worked with said it was about always rememberin' the legacy that came before ya, and the sacrifices made." He looked back up. "He was, well, better at thinkin' about those things than me." Another laugh, and a grin.

"But I can remember that without needing a statue," Roxie says, pausing with her arms folded across her chest to look up at the statue. "I can recite eighty-four thousand years' worth of fallen members of my order." She adjusts her glasses again. "It only really gets hard in the last two thousand years."

Slobo was a little awestruck.

"That's a lot... I can't only remember back forty years, if I'm tryin'..." Something finally popped into his head. "Hey, were you in my head a while back? I had the weirdest dream..."

"I was," Roxie admits, and gives Slobo a little nod. "It was interesting."

"Yeeeeeeaaaaaaah...." Slobo said, looking down for a moment, suddenly feeling somewhere between embarrassed and violated before turning back to his statue. "So, uh, yeah. Not everyone even has the memories I got, much less you. So, statues." Totally not changing the subject.

"So yeah, ya should hang out here. We're thinkin' o' doin' all kindsa stuff. Like movie night and trainin' the younger kids and untrained adults ta survive if they're cut off from the group... Stuff like that." Still not changing the subject.

"I don't know how much time I'll have," Roxie says, and there's a note of honesty in her voice that she usually lacks. "I'm still trying to rebuild my lab from the ground up, without any good materials to work with. It's taking a lot of work."

She looks over at Slobo, and then back at the statue again. "...but I'll come by when I have the chance."

"Sweet. If ya need extra space fer the lab, we kinda got ample room." There seemed to be more people outside or milling about now. "But I should get on the recruitin' thing while Static's takin' his nap." He began to walk away, then turned.

"Talk ta ya later, Rox." At which point he vanished to talk to something that looked oddly like a... hedgehog?
