Phase 5 - Pirate Fight!

They now know what they're up against: space pirates. Interdimensional kidnappers and ruthless scallywags, that hijack ships, and sell the ships themselves and their contents for profit.

Their spaceship is rammed through the hull of the bridge, they're outnumbered fifteen-to-one, and the pirates have some very shiny tech on their side. But even with Stacy suppressed, the crew has her on their side, as she's trying her best to hide them from view and not allow her internal defenses to be used against our stalwart Meatcrew.

Now, in the area outside the bridge, which is home to a wide open space surrounded by a network of hub tunnels and the like, the crew is going to make their stand against the pirates--and the success of this fight will decide the fate of the rest of the crew. It's not easy task, either, considering the powerful weaponry the pirates have at their disposal, and the physical strength, cyborg augments, and powers a number of them have. But they do have a plan.

Will Team GTFO succeed, reopen the ship, and be able to go back to help the others fight against whatever was released against them? (Is it already too late to help them all?) Or will they fail, will those Left Behind have to cross their fingers and hope for the best, will the crew be doomed to a horrible fate in the meat markets (both literal and figurative) of the of the pirate black markets known as the Chopping Blocks?

[ooc: As usual, old threads are still open. And subthreads will be left open so folks can tag them. For instance, even after the subthread with the pirates retreating goes up, the pirate FIGHTING can still be tagged. You can also tag multiple subthreads, since it's a big-ass brawl and you can do fun stuff like having your character flung across the fight.

OPEN FOR TAGGING]

Everyone was heavily armed and heading for the door to the bridge, shooting out the sensors as they approached, not even slowing down to pile up debris to take cover behind -- they had no intention of being pushed back this way. They looked very determined and very, very dangerous.

At least, that's what the pirates would see. Jeka's illusions were very, very detailed. The pirates wouldn't suspect a thing.

"Psych, $#%&es!"

Kon slams a pirate in the face with his shield with a loud wommm as he enters the fray.

As soon as he could get a clear shot, Brainy opened fire. He had a lot of guns and weapons built in after all, and he was intent on using them to help even the odds as much as possible.

"I believe we've severely overestimated our enemies' collective intelligence," Brainy says, as he flies in, slamming two pirates together with his shield powers.

Luke had been holding back for a reason like this, and as the pirates came toward them he let loose with a powerful Force Push, palm held out, unignited lightsaber grasped in one hand.

Brainy's shield powers slam into the group of pirates will all the intensity of a very pissed off brick wall.

Ax braced himself and fired his modified Dracon beam, sweeping it across the front line of the bewildered pirates.

Dealing with these slavers was much simpler than dealing with Yeerks -- after all, they were in charge of their own bodies, not stolen ones.

Y'know beam weapons? They're kind of cool.

There are screams of pain coming from where Wags-Tail-A-Lot is, though they're not coming from him. Rather, they're coming from the pirates that he's ripping and tearing apart.

After that initial Force Push, Luke ignited his lightsaber, the snap-hiss of the green-white blade a familiar thing, and leaped forward. He went for a huge, many-armed thing, the claws like pincers and the eyes projected out on short stalks. It made a gurgling roar as he came at it, and scuttled sideways on crablike legs, free pinches clacking, those ones that were gripping an odd whip and a shiny stick with a wicked-looking emitter at the end.

Luke didn't want to know what that stick thing did, so he crouched and, holding his lightsaber up in guard, pulled his blaster into his hand with the Force and took a couple shots, trying to see if the thing's shiny skin was armored or not.

The Chief is a Spartan.

Killing large volumes of aliens in badass fashion is what he does for a living. So pretty much, he's a blur of shield flare, gun fire, and charged plasma shots tearing into the pirate crew.

Jack will have to deal with the question of good and evil later.

He lets out an apelike scream and charges into the fray, bouncing off pirates and walls and slamming things around with what can only be described as "crazed monkey kung-fu".

Katara had been waiting for this. She may have wanted to protect the people on the ship before, but now this was personal. The more she thought abut the women on the ship, and then the others sold to slavery. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got.

So now, once she was near the pirates, she iced the floor beneath them first. She wanted them caught unawares first: she would make sure that they would ALL fail.

There was a very big, very ugly humanoid figure with face of a pig in the middle of the pirate group. Wags noticed him, if only for the reason that he was too big not to be noticed, and, as the creature moved to attack one of Wag's crewmembers, the werewolf launched himself of the being, teeth gnashing in an attempt to rip into the giants hide.

Young Avengers don't kill except Iron Lad that one time.

Cassie said that to Tommy once and she wasn't planning on adding another exception. She was not, however, going easy on them.

One of the great things about size changing was the ability to come up out of nowhere and slam someone right in the face before they even had time to react. It never got old.
